Promises for NOW

My covenant I will not break, nor alter the word that has gone out of My lips.” – Psalms 89:34

Sometimes we don't recognize God’s promises because they're not always written as we know promises.  In our vernacular, a promise starts with the words "I promise" and usually ends with something we want.  That is, unless you're a mom, and then it could very well end with "I will whip your butt if you do that again!"

What's a promise from God?  It's His word, written in a factual manner, regarding His children.  For example, if the Word were to say, "His children will never be ashamed" (Isaiah 45:17) then God's promise is "I promise you will never be ashamed of being mine."

When we receive a promise from someone we usually will trust that they will or have done it right then.  But with God’s promises we will often think that they are all future tense promises, like the promise of Heaven. But some are intended for today, for right now in this very minute!

Here’s a few that I hope will put wind in your sails today:

“I will instruct thee and teach thee in the way which thou shalt go: I will guide thee with mine eye.” – Psalms 32:8

Today, we can speak this verse as “God is instructing me, and has taught me which way to go in life.  He has His eye on me and continues to guide me.”

“Call unto me, and I will answer thee, and shew thee great and mighty things, which thou knowest not.” – Jeremiah 33:3

Today, we can say “When I pray to you God, you show me great things, mighty things, knowledge and wisdom over things that I didn’t have before.”

“Bless the LORD, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits: Who forgiveth all thine iniquities; who healeth all thy diseases; Who redeemeth thy life from destruction; who crowneth thee with lovingkindness and tender mercies; Who satisfieth thy mouth with good things; so that thy youth is renewed like the eagle's.” – Psalms 103:2-5

Right now we can say, “God, you are my Lord and Master, my Healer, my Forgiver, my Redeemer, and I live in your love and kindness and mercy.  You continue to give me good things and to make me feel young again.”

“He giveth power to the faint; and to them that have no might he increaseth strength.”- Isaiah 40:29

In this very moment we can say “I have power in Christ, I am not about to faint!  Even when my strength was weak, it was God that made me strong.”

“I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.” – Philippians 4:13

At this time, we can say, “God, I know that through Christ I can do anything and everything.”  And because of John 15:5 we can also say “God, I know without you, I can’t do anything!”.

“He will not allow your foot to be moved; He who keeps you will not slumber.” – Psalms 121:3

“For in the time of trouble He shall hide me in His pavilion; In the secret place of His tabernacle He shall hide me; He shall set me high upon a rock.” – Psalms 27:5

Oh yes! When the adversary comes against you, we can say “At this very time, I stand in Christ!  God has put me on the Rock and I will not be moved.  He is protecting me as if He had hidden me away from the enemy.  He camps around me, and will protect me.  God is not asleep! He is watching over me at this very time.”

Seek out the promises of God, and know that they are yours at this very moment as you walk with Him in Christ.
