There are some days I’m just sick of being a “Christian”. Today’s one of those days.
After what has happened with Phil Robertson and A&E,
there will be many “Christians” who raise their voices today about
homosexuality. Yes, they’ll almost all
say it’s sin, they’ll disagree on the degree of the sin as if trying to rank it
with many others, they’ll disagree on whether a homosexual can be saved,
they’ll disagree on many things, and yet…they’ll keep raising their voices
against A&E.
Can I just ask you to do one thing? If you are not equipped to go into the
battle, would you do us all a favor and not go to the front lines? Keep your mouth shut of you have not spent
enough time in God’s Word to know what it says about this sin and others! There is NOTHING this world needs less of
than someone who says they’re a Christian and yet all they have to show a lost
world, a world sliding slowly into hell, is hatred.
God asks us to step in where our brother and sister are in
need of correction, and “rebuke” them (www.BibleGateway.Com
– do the keyword search). He tells us not just to stand against their sin, but
to convince them, to teach them.
NOT ONE TIME does He instruct us to take a global stand
against a single sin and form an alliance against that sin. Do you see the faces of those you are
condemning? Tell them to their face what God says about homosexuality. Your posse standing against them does them no
good. Do you want to give the “Church” a
bad name? Show your hatred, show your
condemnation, and withhold your love.
Let me ask you this.
How would you like God to give up on you? How would you like God to just
say, “I’m done. I give up. He/She can do what she wants.” Does the thought that He could do that
hurt? Read Romans 1:24-32. How many times does it day “God gave them
up”, or “God gave them over”? Can you not
have compassion on these that are so desperate for God’s grace and mercy? How can you say you love God, who you haven’t
seen, if you cannot love your brother, who you have seen? (1 John 4:20)
To those of my friends that are living homosexual lives, can
we have a talk? First, know that you are
loved, and your soul is more important to me than I can express. If you need to know what God’s word says
about this sin in particular, if you even care to know, I’ve dug it out and
will share it with you. And I am sorry
that today you will be hurt, ridiculed, hated, and passed by with those that do
have His Word, and yet because they don’t care enough will not deliver it to
you. I am sorry that your preachers,
your Sunday School teachers, televangelists, and “the church”, who have all been
anointed by God to deliver His Word are silent while you suffer because they
don’t feel they have the “right” to speak to you about this.
Philippians 2:4-5 says “Let each of you look out not only
for his own interests, but also for the interests of others. Let this mind be
in you which was also in Christ Jesus.” What kind of friend would I be if I sat
silently, and did not tell you what God’s word says? What kind of friend would I be if I kept
God’s word to myself, looking out for myself, and no one else? I have to do what Christ instructed me in
John 13:34, which is to “love one another as I have loved you”. And oh yeah, He loves you too.
Now, years ago I did dig out what God’s word says about
homosexuality. Here’s the link if you
want to know. And you have my ear if you
want to talk to me about it. I will talk
to you about it one on one. All you have
to do is message me, and yes, it’s confidential. I can keep my mouth shut while my ears are
open, which seems to be by God’s design.
