PRIDE

"Though the Lord is on high,
Yet He regards the lowly;
But the proud He knows from afar." - Psalms 138:6

 

"But He gives more grace. Therefore He says: “GOD RESISTS THE PROUD, but gives grace to the humble.” - James 4:6

 

"For I say, through the grace given to me, to everyone who is among you, NOT TO THINK OF HIMSELF MORE HIGHLY THAN HE OUGHT TO THINK, but to think soberly, as God has dealt to each one a measure of faith." - Romans 12:3

 

"These six things the Lord hates, Yes, seven are an ABOMINATION (a thing that causes disgust or hatred) to Him:
(1)A PROUD LOOK,
(2)A lying tongue,
(3)Hands that shed innocent blood,
(4)A heart that devises wicked plans,
(5)Feet that are swift in running to evil,
(6)A false witness who speaks lies,
(7)And one who sows discord among brethren." - Proverbs 6:16-19

 

If we want to get closer to God, the first thing we have to destroy is our pride.  The list of sins that grow from the seeds of pride are endless.  Humility brings God closer.

How do you destroy your pride?  By simply being honest with yourself and others as to who you really are.
